Penicillin paintings

Little-known fact: Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin, also developed a way to paint with microbes. Using microbes of different colours, he timed the incubations so that all organisms would mature at the same time, creating a picture. See “Painting with Penicillin” at the Smithsonian.

It’s not unusual for dancers and artists to study anatomy, so why not turn that around? Performing Medicine uses performance and visual arts to teach medical students and healthcare workers. Check out their different performances, including “Anatomie in Four Quarters”.
