Penicillin paintings
Little-known fact: Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin, also developed a way to paint with microbes. Using microbes of different colours, he timed the incubations so that all organisms would mature at the same time, creating a picture. See “Painting with Penicillin” at the Smithsonian.
